Operations Engineering Manager

**Primary Responsibilities:**

+ Lead a technical team of engineers and communication specialists to keep smart grid devices communicating and operating.

+ Evaluate new operations and relay related software and updates, make decisions based on corporate strategy, and implement new software.

+ Partner with Distribution Operations to ensure System Operators are trained and skilled at new operating methods. These methods include automated restoration, familiarity with features that drive better results, and training on software changes.

+ Partner with our Information Technology (IT) business line to prioritize IT projects that drive operational results, and align IT support groups with business strategy related to the software packages this position is business owner of. This includes representing System Operations on the IT Steering Committee.

+ Single point of contact for Control Center Engineering support; this includes onsite support during storms and major issues during blue-sky days.

+ Responsible for the automation engineering capability within overall Distribution Engineering.

+ Lead all technical aspects of our roadmap to become a utility who is ever ready and prepared for the future industry landscape. This includes implementation and responsibility of Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS), acting as a Balancing Authority on the distribution system, and other industry adaptations.

**Position Summary:**

Decisions are guided by resource availability and functional objectives. Leads employees who act as business owners for our Distribution Management System, Outage Management System, Resource Management Software, Geographical Information System, and integration of our Advanced Metering Infrastructure in Operations. Creates and leads our operations technology roadmap which includes the operation and communication of distributed energy resources. Responsible for the technical aspects of the communication infrastructure of all smart grid devices. Advises PPL Electric Utilities line managers and executive management of the progress in executing the engineering workplan, issues that emerge, and recommended corrective actions.

**Candidate Qualifications:**

Candidates must meet the basic qualifications and pass all required tests or assessments to receive consideration.

**Basic Qualifications:**

1. Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology from a college or university accredited by ABET, or recognized by ABET as substantially equivalent

2. Minimum of eight (8) years experience in functions relating to electric utility engineering, operations and planning

3. Three(3) yearsof supervisory experience
